Christmas gifts
If you hate Christmas shopping and would rather go for a coffee, why not do both?! We have a small range of crafts for sale that would make excellent Christmas pressents on sale in the cafe, and the best thing is that they rase money for charity! The crafts are produced by patients and their relatives in Kiwoko hospital in Uganda, and the income generated helps support that charity hospital.
Music @ kuvuka
Many of you will be aware that a lot has been going on here at Kuvuka, we’ve been lucky enough to have had some great performances by talented musicians. The Master Kora player Moussa Kouyate has played several times, which has been a real treat. In addition to this we’ve had great music from Jack, and from Sarah (which I unfortunately missed, but am told was really brilliant, so please come back!)
Given the talent that is evidently available to us I’d like to make the most of this, and will try to bring you some live music each Saturday afternoon. This saturday Jack Cleverly will be playing from 12, he’s very good! Come along!
For - Ethiopia
Kuvua has been open for over 6 months, this quarter our charity contribution is going to the organisation ‘For-Ethiopia’, a Bristol based charity working directly with contacts in Ethiopia to improve lives. They provide necessities like clean water, schooling and medical services. visit their website for details: www.for-ethiopia.com
Thanks to all our customers for enabling this contribution.
Kuvuka is able to provide sandwich platters to order for meetings and events for collection. Have a look at our menu to select the sandwiches you want. 10% of Kuvuka profits go towards charitable projects or sponsorships.
childsoldiers donation
Kuvuka has now been open for 3 months, and is able to make its first charitable donation. The idea is that 10% of all Kuvuka profit goes to charities I have some involvement with. This time Kuvuka will be sponsoring the education of an ex-child soldier in Northern Uganda. I am really excited about being able to make a real difference in the life of someone who has effectively had their childhood stollen, and giving them new opportunities and a new life. If you want to find out more about the war in Uganda in which children were regularly abducted and forced to fight and kill, you can look at a website I put together, which is frankly outdated now, the war is all but over, but gives an idea of what these people have been through. www.stolenchildren.co.uk .
I would like to thank all of Kuvuka’s customers, for making this sponsorship possible, hopefully this is just a start with great things to come.
